Electric Light Orchestra — The Diary Of Horace Wimp

Monday
Late again today
He'd be in trouble though he'd say he was sorry
He'd have to hurry out to the bus...

Tuesday
Horace was so sad
He'd never had a girl that he could care for
And if he was late once more
He'd be out

Don't be afraid
Just knock on the door
well he just stood there mumblin' and fumblin'
then a voice from above said
Horace Wimp, this is your life
go out and find yourself a wife
make a stand
and be a man
and you will have a great life plan

Wednesday
Horace met a girl
She was small and she was very pretty
He thought he was in love, he was afraid

Thursday
Asks her for a date
the café down the street tomorrow evening
his head was reeling when she said "yes, ok"

Don't be afraid
Just knock on the door
well he just stood there mumblin' and fumblin'
then a voice from above said
Horace Wimp, this is your life
go out and find yourself a wife
make a stand
and be a man
and you will have a great life plan

Friday
Horace, this is it,
he asks the girl if maybe they could marry
when she says "gladly" Horace cries boohoo

Sunday
Everybody's at the church
when Horace rushes in and says "now here comes my wife, for the rest of my life", and she did...

Bob Dylan i els animals

Lyrics:
Man gave names to all the animals
In the beginning, in the beginning.
Man gave names to all the animals
In the beginning, long time ago.

He saw an animal that liked to growl,
Big furry paws and he liked to howl,
Great big furry back and furry hair.
"I, think I'll call it a bear."

Man gave names to all the animals
In the beginning, in the beginning.
Man gave names to all the animals
In the beginning, long time ago.

He saw an animal up on a hill
Chewing up so much grass until she was filled.
He saw milk comin' out but he didn't know how.
"I think I'll call it a cow."

Man gave names to all the animals
In the beginning, in the beginning.
Man gave names to all the animals
In the beginning, long time ago.

He saw an animal that liked to snort,
Horns on his head and they weren't too short.
It looked like there wasn't nothin' that he couldn't pull.
"I think I'll call it a bull."

Man gave names to all the animals
In the beginning, in the beginning.
Man gave names to all the animals
In the beginning, long time ago.

He saw an animal leavin' a muddy trail,
Real dirty face and a curly tail.
He wasn't too small and he wasn't too big.
"I think I'll call it a pig."

Man gave names to all the animals
In the beginning, in the beginning.
Man gave names to all the animals
In the beginning, long time ago.

Next animal that he did meet
Had wool on his back and hooves on his feet,
Eating grass on a mountainside so steep.
"I think I'll call it a sheep."

Man gave names to all the animals
In the beginning, in the beginning.
Man gave names to all the animals
In the beginning, long time ago.

He saw an animal as smooth as glass
Slithering his way through the grass.
Saw him disappear by a tree near a lake . . .

Who took the cookie?

Una altra d'en Randy

Amb tots vostès, Randy Newman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

">

Hot potato

Little boxes

He pensat que podríem fer servir aquesta cançó en el grup de música. És de mainada tot i que aquesta versió és políticament força crítica... penjaré les cançons que vegi que poden servir, ok?

Treasure hunt, a great idea!

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share with you a very useful tool I found, Treasure Hunts. It's an activity designed to help students be more confident with their searches through internet, and I think it can be especially useful with upper primary students, because they need to have a pretty good level of English in order to participate.
In a Treasure Hunt, we, as teachers, have to think of a subject that will be of interest to our students. I thought we could do one on sharks and other dangers on the Great Barrier Reef of Australia. Our next step is to make a series of questions, and students are supposed to find the answers on the internet, but not blindly! We will provide some links for them, so they know where to look for the answers, but still, they have to navigate through those webpages in order to get the right answer. In the end, we have to make a final BIG QUESTION that we think will arouse their interest and sum up what we've been studying. Have fun in your treasure hunt!

SUGGESTED PORTALS

Hello Everybody,
There's this portal that I have come across and it seems rather useful as it contains a great variety of children's learning material. In this portal you are bound to find all kind of resources or activities you may need in class divided in different topics such as games, songs, print and do, "listen, read and write" and many more. Its easy-to-access menus will guide you throughout your visit thanks to its eye-catching design, I can assure your kids will love it.
BritishCouncilKids

Hi there,
The following portal has caught my attention because it has all sorts of games related with Maths so one would be able to do an interdisciplinary activity, combining Maths and English. The advantage of it too is the fact that it has 5 different levesl so if a teacher was thinking that kids from "Cicle Inicial" werenot able to use this portal, they were wrong. The portal shows the levels the different games it offers and each game has instructions plus a friendly approach to the player, that way kids can learn and play at the same time.
Primary Games

Hey teachers,
I've found a portal which has clearly specified to what age it is addressed to, 4 to 11. Teachers keep an eye on all the subjects we could mix with our English lessons, from literacy, history, science, music, art, etc. On top of it all, teachers will be able to use clips, audios and more, all you have to do is visit the webportal.
BritishSchools

Hello,
Here it is an interesting portal which has different activities related with the improvement of kids English vocabulary. It has the description of animals so it could be related with "Coneixement del Medi Natural", it is very eye-catching due to the photos, jokes, detailed descriptions, videos and all the different options the menu has to offer. The theme is rather modern which will attract kids interest and at the same time will provide them with useful information. Both teacher and student will enjoy and learn while discovering all the different resources this portal can offer. It is also an ideal way to compare their British and American vocabulary which will show them the language flexibility.

EDU365

Hi again!

I found this great webpage where you can find lots of resources for students and parents. If you want to become a member, you will need to print the application form you will find in “atenció a l’usuari/ària” and then go to “alta d’usuari/aria”. Fill it in and send it to the given address.
This webpage is divided in several parts: you can find resources for Primary School, Secondary School, news, interesting articles and much more.
Kids can use the dictionaries, encyclopedias, maps, translation tools and plenty of exercises, stories, games and links to other webpages to practice all the subjects: Catalan, English, Maths, Science, Social Studies…
Parents can help their kids with edu365 or just let them have fun by themselves. They will be amazed with all the things they can learn alone!
There are also many resources for parents. They can find information about different themes that go from Internet Courses for parents to articles and guides for bullying, anorexia, homosexuality, health issues… There is also information about school lunch, school transportation, school calendar and text books. Finally, they can find links to other PTA webpages.
Enjoy it!!

KIDPIX ACTIVITY

This Activity is mainly addressed to kids aged 6 to 8 which would be Cicle Inicial in Catalan Primary Systems. To do this activity we will need to use the tool Kidpix.
First of all, the basic competences we intend to work in the task are the following:
- Cultural and artistic competences. - The kids will have to resort to their cultural knowledge of the words which are items they use in their everyday context in order to represent them.
- Autonomy and personal initiative. - Using their imagination, each child will try to draw what the word means to them and identify where these objects are most commonly found. They will work individually and they’ll have to create their own designs.
Secondly, kids will discover their material as well as they develop the ability to match words with the representative concept they already have in their minds, either related with their mother tongue (in our case Catalan) or with the physical representation the object has. The following objectives have been thought to be the activity’s goal:
1. - To discover the use of a word according to a context, which in this case is the school.
2. - To recognise the different items children need at school and also the people who work there.
3. - To learn how these objects and people’s charges are spelt in English.
4. - To encourage children’s previous knowledge and imagination to work freely within the classroom and using the ICT.
Thirdly, what we can work here as teachers is their vocabulary and their understanding of meanings which are vital to work in the developing of the English Area.
How do you do it? And what do you need?
1. - The kids will find a table containing the words they have been taught previously in their English lessons. (at least 9 or 10)
2. - They will use the Kid Pix tool to draw what the words mean to them in real life.
3. - All you need is their imagination, a computer and Kid Pix software (they will need your guidance too).

OUR FARM STORY

This clip is dedicated to children aged 5 to 8 years. It tells a story about two animals that live in a farm, a pig and a cow, but both speak a different language to the one they should. During the story, they try their best to teach each other their langauges so that they can speak both languages and the rest of the animals in the farm stop making a mockery out of them.

What we really want to promote with this video clip is to accept the fact that people have different backgrounds, different cultures and differents languages and that nobody should be excluded just because they are different. It includes atention to diversity in class and at the same time, it makes the kids reflect on how they treat their friends who belogn to a different backgorund. They also get the chance to see how useful a second language can be and they see it as a positive way of making new friends in stead of seeing it as a negative or useless knowledge and learning.

Sing and point along with the Wiggles some parts of the body!!

Hello there! Check out this video I found, it seems very useful for us to play and dance with the kids and at the same time repeating and using new vocabulary.

The alphabet

Hi there!
I found this wonderful video with the alphabet. We all know different songs to sing the alphabet but with this video the students can also learn new words linked to each letter. What I like the most is that you can see real pictures and that the pronunciation is clear and slow so they will pick it up easily.
I hope you enjoy it!

The nicest spider

This is an activity to learn basic language
singing songs and having fun! I think it will help young English learners because of the nice rhythm and the cute pics. Children in the class can wacth the video, then we can make them sing the song to make sure they got the lyrics right, and then we could add a role play. It would also be interesting in a crosscurricular subject, because the rhyme offers an excellent opportunity to talk about spiders, and the weather.
